A New CALENDAR Year...

Hi loves :) This is a new feature, I know. But let's not make this awkward with pointless introductions. If you're reading this, you know enough about me to skip all of that. So let's just dive into what I've been wanting to talk about for WEEKS now....The "New" Year.

The majority of us celebrate the end of 1 year and beginning of a new at approximately 12am (Midnight) on January 1st. We've been trained, as a collective, to celebrate this time as the beginning of a new cycle. However, here are a few specific reasons why I, personally, do not...

1.) January 1st is at the height of the "dead" season, WINTER. If we could just halt our "tradition" (just a liiiiiiiitle bit) of celebrating the calendar resetting on a specific date, we allow ourselves to bring common sense into the equation: Why are we celebrating a NEW YEAR in the middle of a season? A season of cold, hibernation and death at that.

Winter is the season that houses the end of  our zodiacal family (Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) yet we want to celebrate it being the beginning of the year? Whereas Spring (Mid March) brings everything to life. Flowers begin to bloom, the sun begins to shine a bit more. Our energy is less reclusive and more eager to move around...

Not Coincidentally, Spring is also the season that kicks off with the first sign of the Zodiac, Aries...starting to make sense?

2.) Not to sound egotistical or anything, but I believe we have our own personal new year; Most of us refer to this as a BIRTHDAY. I say bEARTHday, because, let's face it, our spirits transcend the earthly realm, and were born uncountable times before this incarnation...that is a whole separate post tho. Back on topic...

Tying into the previous point, I encourage you not to wait for the calendar year to celebrate new beginnings, unless January 1st is your actual bEARTHday. When you manifested on this earth, the sun was shining in your zodiac sign (this is what people mean when they ask "what's your sun" sign...and the same is true for moon...where was the moon at the date, time and location of your soul's physical manifestation?). Which is why most of us gain a surge of energy, optimism, a glow even, as we get closer to our solar return (sun entering our sun sign...aka bEARTHday).

So if you're someone who expects life to do a full about-face at 12:00 am on January 1st, I hope it brings you a bit of comfort knowing things will really begin to change closer to about Mid-March ;) Because January 1st is actually just a tradition that was created as a way to keep track of taxes (insert eye roll), not to celebrate an actual new beginning.

Peace, Love, Shadow & Light,

Tanesha <3
